Hybris is a modern music label, releasing records, digital media and other more or less artefacts associated with pop culture. We are situated in Sweden; in the royal capital of Stockholm; and in the not so royal city of Malmö. The Stockholm department is run by Mattias Lövkvist and John Gadnert, and the Malmö department is run by Kalle Magnusson.

A record label, not very 2011, is it?
No, we know… But we’re not a record label in a record label anno 1994 way. We’re a record label anno 2010. Or actually, we are more than that. First of all: We call Hybris a music label not a record label (yes, a huge different – focus on music, not records). Second: We have really fair deals with our artists (which basically means 50/50-deals). The truth is that most of our artists actually makes a whole lot more from their music than we could ever do (hard to get paid for recorded music – easier to get paid for live music; they do shows – we sell recorded music). We think that is as fair as it gets today, they are the artists, not us, and we tend to transform that into a stimulus for getting even better at what we do.

We also do a lot of non-traditional record label stuff. Like trying to be creative and interesting, to begin with. Not a very common thing in the music industry today. And we also know how people acts on the internet, very rare knowledge in the music world. We know that not because we have seen it, but because we have created it, in a way. (Meaning whatever you want it to mean.) We are a digital native music label. Ever heard that one before? Probably not. In addition to recorded music, Hybris also functions as a publisher, manager, booking agent, promoter, video maker, graphic designer, curator and lots of other stuff. For supporting the artists.

But mainly, and more important than everything above: We are huge fans of our artists. We love them and we love the music they’re making. Take a look at the music biz and you will find out that this is not anything you can take for granted… But we are different.

And that’s how you work with music year 2011. Be different. And great.

History
Hybris was founded on a bright and shiny day in spring 2004. That is a long time ago – but we have also done a few good things – and probably a few not so good things as well. If we look back, it’s not hard see that we have actually released quite a few of the the most acclaimed and loved debut artists in Sweden since we started. Quite an accomplishment, right? Best of all: The crusade of releasing new great music is still on – are you?

Have a band? Want a record deal?
It’s not 1994 any more. For sure. If you are good (for sure), you could try to contact us. But if you really are good, we have probably already heard most of your songs, moved some hips at your gigs, and most certainly talked you already.
